Hello, this very much reminds me of Rocket Stove Mass Heater designs. Have you researched Rocket Stoves and the grassroots movement to share the technology? They can be used for heating homes, cooking and creating biochar.

Just within this contest, there is an amazing opportunity for idea swarming: Combine this solar cooking campaign with the HELIAC Solar Cooker and the Protocol for Testing Solar Cookers. All of these proposals are taking on a different aspect of the challenge--imagine what they could achieve together!

Hello Pla,

Thank you for your comment and web links of information on rocket stoves. We researched a lot on various type of improved cooking stoves available in the market. We are quite familiar with the stoves featured in the provided links. Our major target is to design and produce cost effective, sexy, easy to use, comparatively light weight rocket stove so that it could meet the requirements of the end-users, make the supply chain more efficient and reduce carbon emission significantly. Although various types of stoves are available in the market, more than 3 million people in Nepal are still compelled to use the traditional open fire stoves so our another objective is to distribute the stoves more efficiently by collaborating with governmental agencies, NGOs, CBOs, international development agencies, private sectors and end-users. There is some space for technical innovation in the existing stoves for which we will try our best to fulfill and the most significant aspect of this programme is to transfer the technology and increase the accessibility of the stoves to the end-users. Thank you once again for your valuable comment.

Hello Betsy,

Thank you for your comment. Your idea of carrying our combined campaign of our clean cooking solutions and HELIAC solar cooker is good but we need to consider the practical implications of the technology in a certain geographical location. In particular to the Nepalese context, we have a huge geographical variation and we have also experienced that in more than two third of area, ICS works better than solar cooker. We are always open to cooperate with other contestants of the Climate Colab contests as well as other people or businesses who are working for rural energy technologies, renewable energy, climate change and green growth to contribute for the UN sustainable development goals. Your idea is always welcomed!

The pace of penetration of ICS is the key to its success both on reducing GHG, improving health and making it cost effective. The initiative is praise worthy and happy to see it in the semi finalist list. Just think what makes the pace of penetration of mobile usage / direct to home TV faster than ISCs.

Do enlighten  us on the possible avenues of promoting the local manufacturing with foreign technologies, micro finance through organisations like Green Climate Fund and the media support that encourages the change over besides capacity building. Thanks. Best Wishes.

Dear Rashmita,

You are exactly right. We have experienced very painful situations caused by unhealthy cooking practices in Nepal so we are trying our best to improve their conditions at least by providing a ICS per family. Cooking has to provide healthy life but it unfortunately kills 8,700 people every year in Nepal (WB 2009). It really hurts. Your comment has further energized us. Thank you so much!

Dear Manohar Lal,

Thank you very much for your valuable comments. I agree with your opinion that the major issue in success of ICS project is the pace of its penetration. We found that it has been hindered by a range of factors, such as disruptive innovation in technology, financial mechanism, supply management and awareness campaign. Although the pace of penetration of any item depends on priority of people needs, besides other, there are something common and these could be the references for assisting us on efficient distribution of ICS. We aim to implement innovative approaches in all matters concerning to the successful implementation of ICS programme and bring a greater positive impact as much as possible. Your constructive comments are always welcomed and thank you once again for your best wishes.

A very good initiative. Hope this project gets approved. (as We can't have trust on our government to help us you know it). Yes mostly the rural areas people are highly getting affected by the problem and the problem also that they don't know it themselves they are affected and should also be made conscious about the problem.

Very good initiative and project.

A very good luck.
