Animesh Prakash has focused his career in Disaster Management with over seven years of experience in Disaster Risk Reduction, Humanitarian Response and WASH. Currently, He is working as program officer - DRR in Oxfam India’s Odisha office, where his responsibilities include designing and monitoring DRR programs in disaster prone geographies of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and supporting Oxfam’s humanitarian programmes in India. He has previously held the positions of District project officer in the UNDP DRR project and Research Associate at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
Animesh holds master’s degree, in Disaster Management from TISS, and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights Law from Indian Law Institute, Delhi. With support from the UN – OCHA 2014 humanitarian research and innovation grant, he has developed prototypes of an early warning technology (lifetowers) to detect floods and inundation and disseminate timely warnings to the community through different mediums to save lives and assets.
