Judges'' comments
The topic is definitively very important and significant progress in this field can bring benefit to many people. It is also a great idea and the proposal is well articulated. However more details on the feasibility and sustainability should be provided for a better understanding.
The author has not addressed all comments. For instance what is the link between having more testing facilities and market scale-up? How will the testing data be used to convince people that they should adopt the product? What would it take for solar cookers to become the norm, rather than traditional cookers? How much cost reduction could result from standardisation? In the cost section, it would be useful to have an estimate of scale-up costs to reach the benefits and impacts that are presented: the link between costs and benefits is not evident. Also the timeline section should be for the full scale-up of the program. At present that section repeats the information on benefits and impacts, but does not provide a timeline for the full program that would realize those impacts and benefits (the only timeline provided is for one testing station).
