Dear Natalie

These artificial reefs sound like a very interesting idea - thank you for submitting to the adaptation contest - and best wishes with this initiative!

Reef-building team,

Last day to refine the proposal. Looking forward to seeing the final version.

Could you give me a sense for the science behind reef damage? My understanding was that much is from "bleeching", which is due to sea temperature. Is that correct? If so, what could your proposal do to help with that problem?

Good luck!

Dear participant, Have you considered traditional knowledge of people that has been in the sea or in shores. Cheers

Natalie,

As you don't mention it, you might find the 'Guidelines for the placement of artificial reefs' produced by the London Convention/Protocol and UNEP useful. English, French and Spanish versions can be downloaded at:

Hi, You may like to promote Urine-diverting Dry Toilets and other EcoSan techniques to keep people's excrement out of the fragile ocean. See inodoroseco.blogspot.com, www.ecosanres.org, www.susana.org. You could start with the sailboat. I would be glad to advise on this.
