Description
Summary
One of the main reasons for the continuing stalemate in the negotiations regarding climate change is a wait and see what the others do attitude. To overcome this stalemate, I call for another race to the moon. This time the race is about to find technological and behavioral solutions to climate change.
Ultimately all citizens of the world would be winner in such a race, but there are also national benefits for the race winner(s). For example Charles Weiss and William B. Bonvillian argue that: "The United States should keep in mind, too, that the economic advantages of leadership in technology have been the source of its wealth and well-being. Is it really in America´s interest to cede leadership of a technological revolution in energy to other countries that now also understand the innovation-based growth model?"

How do the regional and cross-sectoral plans above fit together?
Each region will use their own strengths to create technological solutions and behavioral changes to combat climate change in a friendly competition, a new race to the moon, sharing their knowledge along the road.
Reforestation Olympics provide an area for silvicultural professionals around the world to compete in reforestation and change their knowledge in an neutral area.
Similar contests are encouraged around the world in different areas, for example agriculture, where the competition is among practises suitable for a warming world.
The Pan Indian Movement... have a similar idea of exchange of ideas and could also include the competitonal aspect as in this proposal.
