Energy solutions for Latin America 2015
How can we create more efficient, renewable energy solutions to reduce GHG emissions from the electricity sector in Latin America?
Latin America currently generates about 7% of the world's total electricity production, but demand is skyrocketing as population levels increase and the region continues to prosper. With Latin America's economy expected to grow 3% annually, the region will need to nearly double its installed power capacity to about 600 gigawatts by 2030. By 2050, Latin America's power demand is expected to triple, while carbon emissions from the power sector will double.
