Manlio Coviello serves as Regional Energy Expert in the Natural Resources and Infrastructure Division of the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), based in Santiago de Chile. From 1994 to 2003, he was responsible for more than 60 technical assistance projects involving a number of Latin American governmental entities and agencies. In 2002-2003, he acted as Institutional Advisor to the Executive Secretary of Energy of Brazil on matters relating to the New Energy Model and to the preparation of the regulatory framework for energy efficiency. In 2002, he assisted Argentina’s Secretary of Energy on issues linked to electric tariff negotiations. Mr Coviello has been Director of the joint ECLAC/European Commission “OPET MERCOSUR” project from 2001 to 2002.
