A member of AICP since 1990, Kathleen is employed (since 2000) as a Senior Planner in the Department of Growth Management in Alachua County, Florida.   Her chief planning responsibilities include Comprehensive Planning and providing technical support to the County Historical Commission, Old Florida Heritage Highway (scenic byway promoting heritage tourism), and working on community health partnerships and the Local Mitigation Strategy.

 

Kathleen authored a presentation on bicycle powered community composting to present at George Washington University for the 2012 Policy Challenge and National Science Foundation (NSF)-supported Workshop on Participatory Platforms with a Public Intent.  At the University of New Orleans (UNO) from 1998 to 2000, she read extensively on the New Orleans urban parks. She has completed a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (1986) and Bachelors of Design in Architecture (1980) at the University of Florida (UF).

 

SACRPH published her 1995 conference paper on the Civilian Conservation Corps Automotive Priorities Division. She also presented CCC research at University of York, UK, Popular Myths & History Conference, in 1997, and the Popular Culture Association Conference, New Orleans, in 2000.

 

In addition to contributing to various Alachua County planning documents, other publications include a case study in Scenic America’s Scenic Solutions CD (Old Florida Heritage Highway);a newsletter article on Alachua County Health Element  for the Florida Chapter American Planning Association (2011); and the  article “Water for Peace”(with Dr. Jonathan Warner) in Colloqui: Cornell Journal of Planning and Urban Issues.  She has made several planning presentations and poster sessions at national and state planning conferences.
