Applying Climate Research needs Nation management

Description

Summary

Favorable research results require:

Value confirmation in global systems

User agreements.

Design, production, installation, tests.

Review major systems management methods records.

Interaction with existing Federal orgs.

Choose level of responsibility.

Quality of staff.

Recognize departures from usual market place process.

How will MIT Participate?

What actions do you propose?

Introducing new energy sources, learning how to reduce requirements,

and for mobile and fixed installations will leave little in our ways of life untouched.

The total Alumni members over many years have been involve inventing, designing, using; and usually in responsible management positions.

That is a good and already connected base.

Thus the major challenge will be  adding a new set of ground rule different fom the usual market place. And translate the consequences, not only to users, and builders, etc, but also the financial structures backing the spectrum of activities.

Not new in the sense military developments likely new, would not be expected to self appear, but we set up organizations to create build test use.

Experience in that area will be useful Though thee monolithic military, pr NASA, etc, are different from the interests

Another challenge will be to take advantage of competition efficiencies. Again mostly in aspects of "hi tech very complex devices and procedures, military, NASA, etc, form teams to compete when hardware/software can be well defined.

The body of my Proposal lists organizations with major system experience.

Perhaps most of all,"brute force" changes to reduce carbon would be very unfavorable economically. Thus the research challenge to introduce the needed changes at lower cost, or by restructuring functions.

Thus no silver bullet for alumni but as a strong component of the nation's and the world's research, development operation's fabric.
