Christina Hoicka takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding interactions between communities and energy systems by combining her knowledge in human geography, ecological economics and engineering. Her current research interests include: participation in community energy and low-carbon energy transitions; how innovation system actors and networks are establishing a more sustainable energy system; planning for energy transitions; and how diversity and inclusion accelerates energy transitions. She has conducted research on: adoption of clean energy technologies; participation in community-based energy efficiency programs; and renewables integration into the electricity grid. She is currently an Assistant Professor at York University, co-founder of Women in Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) network, and a Senior Faculty Associate at Robarts' Centre for Canadian Studies.
