Swapan is an environmental finance and policy expert having proficient in designing and implementing project in forestry, biodiversity, climate change adaptation and mitigation. After completing his Advanced Diploma in Forest Management from Indian Institute of Forest Management, he worked with some of the largest finance firms of the World. 

In 2009 he set up Iora Ecological Solutions , an environmental policy advisory group that provides implementation solutions in the area of forestry and biodiversity conservation, carbon finance and new market mechanisms for emission reduction.

He has co authored National REDD+ Strategy for India and also developing REDD+  pilots in 5 states of India. 

He is involved in development of REDD+ MRV system for India as a part of USAID Forest PLUS Program.

His multi level exposure to key problems allows him  to envisage and develop solutions that are holistic and multifaceted.
