Member Profile
Malawi is one of the countries in sub-Saharan Africa that is desperately poor. This is despite five decades of post-independence economic and social reform, during which the Government has worked in partnership with such donors as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations agencies, and other multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors. Currently, the country ranks on position nine among the top twenty list of poorest countries of the world. Compounding the problem of chronic poverty is the issue of climate change, food insecurity, environmental degradation and loss of young able-bodied young men and women to employment outside the country.
Against this background, Foundation for Building Resilient Communities (FOBRECO) was founded in 2012 as a non-profit making and sharing organisation on the side-lines of bad governance, poor sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic hardships Malawi and Malawians were undergoing. FOBRECO finally got registered as a Company by Guarantee on 2nd August 2012, and its Registration Number is TR/INC: 5826.
