.Joseph Kipngetich Chepsoi, is a Collaborator Agricultural Irrigation Engineering Consultant and Founder of Apadaf Consultants in Nairobi, Kenya. Joseph received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nairobi in 1992 and 1984 respectively. He has worked for diverse irrigation, agriculture, water, and environment projects in Sub-Sahara Africa. He took Sinapis Entrepreneurship Course - Acton School of Business in 2014 to orient, sharpen and refresh his skills, intellectual resources and tools to suit establishment of his consultancy business – Apadaf Consultants. Projects that Joseph has participated were funded by Governments,Bilateral or Multilateral Funding Agencies (Montreal Protocol funded Methyl Bromide Alternatives Project); Arid Lands Resources Management Project, WB, Small Scale Irrigation Development Program, Dutch Government among others by AfDB, BADEA, UNDP, UNIDO, UNEP, WMO, GIZ-Proklima, EC, DfID, JICA
Time saved: Established bonding with horticultural growers to adopt water saving irrigation practices (hydroponics and substrate growing culture) and validated technically, economically and commercially feasible alternatives, hence phasing out of Methyl Bromide in Kenya by 2010 instead of 2015
Money well spent: As Team leader of feasibility study to identify irrigation investments in Kieni, Kenya, proposed development of 7 dams to feasibly irrigate 5,200 ha for 52,000 households that exceeding the initial target of 2,000 ha, and 5,000 households by > 2.5 and 10 x respectively
Tour of Duty: His tour of duty, spanning over 30 years, has taken him to remote village communities practicing irrigated agriculture for food security,droughts, floods, land slides in Medina, Somalia just before the 2004 Tsunami
