Ph.D. from McGill Unversity. Coastal geomorphologist with more than 40 years of experience on the coasts of Southeast, South and East Asia. Field research includes geomorphology, tourism, management, tsunami impacts, and climate change relating to coasts and islands. Visiting Associate Professor, University of Adelaide. Lead Author in IPCC Third Assessment Report and Coordinating Lead Author in Fourth and Fifth Assessment Reports. Life Member of Geological Society of Malaysia and International Society for Mangrove Ecosystems.
