Member Profile
Karen Nasmith (Director, Co-Founder, Project Neutral) – Karen Nasmith is a LEED®-accredited professional, registered professional planner, and social entrepreneur with experience in climate change and sustainability. Karen has a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (Dalhousie University) and a Master in Urban Planning (McGill University). She has worked extensively with municipalities on sustainable integrated planning and implementation, and recently co-founded Project Neutral. In May 2010, Karen found herself reflecting on a climate change adaptation plan that she had recently worked on in Nunavut. The experience provided her with the opportunity to witness firsthand the impacts of climate change. Combined with over a decade in sustainable urban planning, and her new role as a mother, these experiences had brought her to a pivotal moment. As Director of Project Neutral, Karen is leading the development of a model for transformational neighbourhood-based climate change action.
