The Veolia Institute is organizing an important conference at the National Academy of Science -Ecosystems, Economy and Society: How Large-Scale Restoration can Stimulate Sustainable Development on May 29-30 2014.
The conference is an international platform for dialogue among scientists, policy-makers, private sector, NGOs and donors, the Conference will include influential leaders, Nobel Prize winners, outstanding scientists, practitioners.
Some program highlights:
A decision-makers segment to translate those experiences in inspiring ideas for the achievement of:
CBD Aichi Target 15 (restoration of at least 15% of degraded ecosystems), with initiative such as the Bonn Challenge
EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020
UNFCCC REDD+ goal to slow, halt and reverse the loss of forest and carbon
Other international objectives, including those on land degradation and food security
