Pitch

Clean Energy for SMEs with heating, cooling and compressed air using incoming water flow and reduced GHG emissions, while saving costs.

Description

Summary

The company is being incorporated with its Global Headquarter in Ottawa, Canada. We are keen to provide our product to the Ontario SMEs to reduce their GHG emissions and also reduce their costs on electricity, heating and compressed air, improving their margins. The company is being incorporated with its Global Headquarter in Ottawa, Canada. We are keen to provide our product to the Ontario SMEs to reduce their GHG emissions and also reduce their costs on electricity, heating and compressed air, improving their margins.

Every SME in Ontario has water connections with pressure more than 3 bar. Sourcing this energy with our new engineering design, we provide the product that can retrofit to customer’s first water inlet in their premises. We would utilize the support to develop a pilot in Ottawa and be able to demonstrate for which we seek Can $150,000. In addition to this we plan to take this product initially to the Ontario SMEs like car wash entities, small breweries and many othe SMEs. Later we plan to take it globally, bringing additional  manufacturing ancillary and job opportunities to SMEs in Ontario.

We would be working with various industrial certification firms to get this product to the market. In the process, we plan to build our eco-system partner network to demonstrate and grow as it is a needed product in Ontario and in global industrial markets. While we are at providing this product to a larger market, we have also considered to reduce or eliminate any legal and political issues by providing it to teh SMEs where they install it like a LED light or water pump.

This would definitely reduce the electricity peak loads and the GHGs from heating, cooling and use of electricty for compressed air. It would not only benefit the SMEs in terms of yearly savings and better profits, but would also benefit Ontario in better balancing their peak loads with reduced GHG emissions and better air quality.

Desirability

How do you know that your solution is desirable to SMEs, and will reduce GHG emissions?

Ontario has a problem with high electricty prices as also gas prices. Both need to be imported to meet the base loads. Electricty is used by all SMEs for their businesses from lighting to processes cooling or production. It is used for heating in many instances though natural gas is slowly taking over (which has the methane issues). SMEs in Ontario use eletricity for compreesed air needs which is the fourth biggest utility cost in SMEs for manufacturing .

Our solution can comfortably nring down these huge energy costs for SMEs and increase their profitability, which benefits owners and their employees. It also reduces their GHG emissions footprint where they could be incentivised by the Ontario government. As it is a low total cost solution, we see that they would definitely see value and as we guarantee the product's life, it would be a big win for them.

Feasibility

What actions do you propose?

With the financial support, we plan to

1.Pilot and demonstrate.

2. Seek certifications and approvals as required

3. Go-to-market

4. Scale up where some SMEs in Ontario may require customizations

5. Strategically plan for profitable growth

6. Plan for green bonds or IPO to support manufacturing and growth needs

7. Grow with right values, teams, partners and customers

8. Share benefits for a win-win

Who will take these actions?

Our global HQ being incorporated in Ottawa, Canada will have a team led by me to take actions and deliver the pilot according to the plan and schedule. We would here be also working with academic institutions in Ottawa and Toronto for mutual benefit. We would be partnering with NRC and OCE where required.

Where will these actions be taken?

In Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The site location could be NRC or a related facility that they could recommend.

What are the proposal’s projected costs?

For the Pilot, we are seeking Can $150000 and we would be also seeking additional funds for IP protection of our innovation from right authorities as it benefits Ontario and Canada in terms of jobs created. Our new approach leads to heating, cooling and distributed power generation with very low GHG emissions. We would be able and glad to provide you with any additional details required from financial and technology (protecting our IP) perspectives.

Scalability

Once the solution is built and implemented describe a path forward for it to scale to other users/companies.

The path forward after the pilot and scaled up demosnstartions as required, we would be looking profitable revenues in few millions and also be looking at exit opportunities for impact investors through an IPO. Being a valuable product, our market research shows the product would bring value to various other verticals and entities other than SMEs in the long run. We alsp plan to bring in professional management and executives to grow positively at appropriate phases as a part of staregic management plan. With rising global temperatures, we see a huge need for this product in meeting the cooling and compressed air needs.

How will your solution lead to change on a larger scale over time (i.e. 3 to 5 years out)? How many businesses can potentially be affected by your solution?

In 3 to 5 years after our patent apllications filing and pilot - which we may work with an industry in Ottawa and also work with NRC for independent testing, we could cover most SMEs requiring reduction in energy costs. This would also support their margins and psitively affect their profitability. We foresee at least a few thousand SMEs affected postively with HHG redcution and dollar gains.

What business and funding model have you considered for your solution to become sustainable?

We are looking impact investments to support our pilot and demonstrations. We are also looking at support for innovations from the governments as it creates new jobs. Our revenues are purely from product sales and service, working with the right partners. The product range would be priced from $4000 per unit onwards and we see projections of a few thousand annual sales and growing. We show our customers the value brought and the dollars that our product saves even with increases in energy and related costs.

Impact

What impact will the proposed actions have on reducing greenhouse gas emissions?

Greenhouse gases are from fossil fuels used in one form or another. As electricity generated GHG emissions except for wind and hydro are very high. Our product being a hydro source, our GHG emissions is 1gCO2eq/kWh in comparision to coal - 740, Natural Gas - 410 or even Solar - 26 and Biomass - 130 gCO2eq/kWh.

What are other key benefits?

The product reduces

1. GHG emissions in SMEs

2. Saves yearly operational costs by saving electricty and heating/cooling costs

3. Provides better Air quality

4. Enables SMEs to be more resilient to vagaries of weather

5. Climate change adaptation for the SME is easier with our product and related accessories.

6. Low capital costs and operations & maintenance costs

7. Customized solutions to the need, which is adaptive and flexible (as long as 3 bar inlet water pressure is assured)
