| Proposal contributor Hi Radu, great to see your monitoring tech here. Having your Model A set up in Uruguay has been really informative, not just for the radiation readings, but the temperature also. I think the newer models that detect pollution and CO2 are great tools that can be used to assess the success some of the solutions proposed by members of CoLab. You should consider "forking" this proposal to the Buildings category also. Good Luck! |

| Proposal contributor Addressing the Judges evaluation comments, following are the judges comments and the summary of edits made to the Global Environmental Monitoring network proposal. The Judges appreciated the effort at translating science jargon in understandable language for the public. They felt this ethos could further be translated to the application itself. The YouTube, for instance, is nicely done, but it is still quite technical for a consumer to grasp easily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS3n2fAaGXI
While there is a need for air monitoring to track pollution, particularly in frontline communities, the proposal lacks information on public engagement and details on how the tool will be deployed and used by participants.
Please note that URADMonitor is an existing technology with a global network providing data 24/7. In the What actions do you propose section is: " 3. Research and development Develop more uRADMonitor hardware to address the pollution problem better. Currently we're prototyping the first uRADMonitor wearable, a system to be used by bicyclists and joggers to map their cities entirely. 25 April 2017: The new front-end developed for the uRADMonitor portal comes with more interactive access to the data, including support for mobile units. The Judges felt increased attention could be paid to the geographic scope of the focus.
They also felt the impact section could be made more positive.
