Pitch
To ask the whole population of the whole world, to use less carbon energy, through all the news services of all the countries of the world.
Description
Summary
"Dear Population of the Whole World"
The magnitude of the world carbon energy economy,
the magnitude of world annual carbon dioxide emissions,
accumulating atmospheric carbon dioxide,
global warming, climate change, heatwaves,
sea level rise, arctic and antarctic sea ice loss,
oceans' warming and acidificaton and de-oxygenation,
and coral bleaching, are all now known,
to be real and progressive and alarming scientific phenomena.
Do you think it could soon become time,
for the whole world's political
and scientific and journalist communities,
to have to start requesting
every news service of every country in the world,
to have to start requesting
the whole population of the whole world,
to please help
by choosing to use less carbon energy voluntarily ?
For example, these are the fairest words, i could think of,
for addressing the whole population of the whole world,
as in a letter, for broadcasting in a transmission
through all the world's news services:
"Dear Population of the Whole World,
As end users of carbon energy, and by freedom of choice,
please remember to choose to use less carbon energy,
every day, forever more,
in order to help reduce world daily carbon dioxide emissions,
forever more,
in order to help prevent global warming and climate change,
forever more."
I believe, if asked,
the whole population of the whole world,
could voluntarily, and conscientiously,
reduce its use of carbon energy, by 10% - 20% - 30%,
which would really help.
Is this proposal for a practice or a project?
Project
What actions do you propose?
For example
in the UK
the co-operation will need to be obtained
from BBC Radio 4 news service journalists
and from lead scientists
who have had a public output
through the BBC Radio 4 news service
As a BBC Radio 4 listener
I am acutely aware that BBC Radio 4
needs a stimulus to improve its output
to the UK population
regarding global warming and climate change
But this can only be done by a project
which involves BBC Radio 4 journalists
and lead scientists
who are going to work in agreement to achieve this aim
In the UK we have the term "BBC English"
which is true
In effect the BBC establish and maintain
an accepted lexicon of words and terms
which are understood
to be understood by the UK population.
In my understanding
the BBC lexicon
needs to be developed and improved
in order to help improve
the UK's population's response
to global warming and climate change
For example
I would request theses terms
to be added to the BBC lexicon
(1) carbon energy is an economic good
(2) one by product of the world carbon energy economy
is accumulating atmospheric carbon dioxide
(3) accumulating atmospheric carbon dioxide
is causing global warming and climate change
(4) the whole population of the whole world
are responsible to reducing thier use of carbon energy
(5) the news service of every country in the world
are responsible for reminding their country's population
of these facts
(6) the news service of every country in the world
have the privilege of addressing their country's population
every day
(7) yes we all live lives as individuals
but we also live as a population of a country
and we also live as a world population
Who will take these actions?
So the principle aim of my project is
(1) to gain the co-operation
of bbc radio 4 journalists
and lead scientists in the uk
who will agree to work
to improve the bbc lexicon
(2) the bbc news service
will then be able to address
the uk population
more clearly and more directly
about global warming and climate change
and its cause
the world carbon energy economy
(3) the bbc news service
will then be able to begin
to fairly request the uk population
to please begin to choose to use less carbon energy
voluntarily and by freedom of choice
(4) the uk population will then begin to understand
their responsibility and their ability
to choose to use less carbon energy
voluntarily and by freedom of choice
(5) by extension
this project can be expanded to include
the news service of every country in the world
and thereby the population of every country in the world
and thereby the whole population of the whole world
will then be able begin to understand
their responsibility and their ability
to choose to use less carbon energy
voluntarily and by freedom of choice
Where will these actions be taken?
Initially in the UK
working with bbc journalists
and lead scientists in the uk
in order to begin to address
the whole population of the uk
but once established in the uk
this project is extensible to every country in the world
and then the whole population of the whole world
can be addressed
In addition, specify the country or countries where these actions will be taken.
United Kingdom
Country 2
No country selected
Country 3
No country selected
Country 4
No country selected
Country 5
No country selected
Impact/Benefits
What impact will these actions have on greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change?
i believe
if asked
the whole population of the uk
could voluntarily and by freedom of choice
reduce their use of carbon energy
by 10% to 20% to 30%
which would really help
and by extension
if asked
the whole population of the whole world
could voluntarily and by freedom of choice
reduce their use of carbon energy
by 10% to 20% to 30%
which would really really help
What are other key benefits?
this is very interesting
if the population of the uk
and by extensioon
the population of the world
discovered they could choose to use less carbon energy
they would then discover
they are spending less money on carbon energy
and therefore
they would have more money to save
or more money to spend in other economies
Costs/Challenges
What are the proposal’s projected costs?
the project would not cost too much
initially it could cost possibly 1 month's work
with co-operating journalists from the bbc
and lead scientists in the uk
money and travel
and carbon emissions due to travel could be reduced
by working
(1) by written work in emails
(2) telephone calls
(3) teleconferencing using the internet
Timeline
the project's timeline
initially could be 1 year to implementation
but once established it could continue indefinitely
