The value and potential benefits of this proposal are clear; however, it is a fairly conventional implementation of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) techniques in India. While the project is interesting, it’s not clear how it will reach 5000 farmers and then 10000 by the second year. Additionally, the proposal fails to set a baseline and provide a clear strategy to reduce GHG emissions from rice production and the improved productivity and reduced consumption of inputs could be elaborated more clearly.

Judges'' comments
Scaling up climate smart rice farming is a very good idea, but the proposal could be more focused.
Overall, the narrative could be improved by being more concise and focusing responses to the questions, removing redundant information. - Provide a brief background of why SRI is a better approach than other solutions for improving crop yields and resilience. - In the "Actions" section provide a concise and specific discussion of what you will do if you win the contest. The current set of activities seems to be too much for the scale of this support. - It could be useful to comment on how this project might address gender inequities. - The budget amount exceeds the award amount. What specific activities would you fund w/ the $10k award?
How will you get 10,000 farmers In the first year with limited funds? How will you leverage into the larger $141K required? The Judges suggested an interim pilot approach may be desirable.
