Judges'' comments
- Strong proposal from a competent team. Proposal for community-based reforestation in central highlands of Kenya.
- Very doable project by experienced group. They have done all the right things to get this in place, and I expect they will be able to carry it out. The impacts on climate are not large, but it's a good start and can be an example for others.
- Very nice information pulled together by folks from Kenya, US, and Germany. The responses to each set of questions is also well said.

Judges'' comments
Novelty: 2/5 Reforestation of 100 ha of land in highland Kenya—not particularly novel
Workability: 4/5 Well-developed proposal. The budget of 42K Euro/year is reasonable, and could provide good returns. Looks to have a strong component of community involvement, which is important.
Effectiveness: 3/5 This proposal is quite limited in scope (100 ha) but is scalable in principle.
Thoroughness: 4/5 Good proposal. The timelines have been thoughtfully developed.
Presentation: 5/5 Well done.

This is an excellent proposal well thought out, limited in scope but very likely to deliver what it proposes to do. The group should reach out to the Green Belt Movement, which has more experience that any other group in planting trees in Kenya.
