Pitch
All homes and buildings should be required to have at least 1/4 power from solar.
Description
Summary
Building codes and/or zoning codes could require 1/4 of household energy be from solar panels. An average home of 1.200 sq. feet cost about $15,000 for solar, so the cost would be 1/4 of that, or about $3,200 added cost to the home. With additional incentives from state, federal and local governments, home buyers would very often be encouraged to add more. By requiring at least some panels on each home or building, the solar panels would collectively become a large solar field to supply the power company and lower everyone's bills.
