Amethyst, thank you so for your submission. Your description mentions decentralized wind, solar and biogas production. I'm curious to know if you have specific ideas you would like to share about how to shift perceptions related to the adoption of these technologies.

Hi Michael,
As you are probably aware, decentralising current power production, in today’s climate would not work. However, by increasing the power production of individual homes and small businesses, using renewable energies will reduce the overall demand on the national grid. There are a number of benefits to be gained from doing this:
• Lower energy bills for home owners and small businesses
• Reduction in emissions
• Less demand from an aging power production network
• Increased security of the power distribution network
As for specific ideas, I am working on the rest of the proposal which will explain in more detail.

Hi Amethyst,
Thanks for the update and I look forward to seeing how the proposal develops.

Hi Amethyst
If by "in today's climate" you mean that today's political climate won't permit these changes, then I think that that is the priority, if difficult, objective. Here's why: We (the People) need to reclaim our republic which is now largely run by lobbyist's and "Funders'" influence.
You have some very good points here and I wish you the best in your efforts to see this through. My quotes below are from Lawrence Lessig's "Lesterland: The Corruption of Congress and How to End It"

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your comment.
Unfortunately, to change these attitudes will probably be more difficult than encouraging and stimulating the people into action. Having said that, public opinion is also a big influence on the government, but we need a large and loud voice.
There a many different small groups and individuals that are doing things that are sustainable, financially viable and good for the environment. We need to connect these groups and individuals, not only together, but to the rest of the population.
If we can create growth in sustainable energy production on an individual and community size, the government and energy corporations will have no option but to become more involved. Also, small and medium sized systems can be more readily manufactured, installed and serviced locally which would create jobs and improve economic growth.

Hey Amethyst
Difficult? My guess is near impossible. But that's why people like us are trying out crazy ideas. What do we want to do? Oh just change the world and fix it so 9 billion people can survive in harmony on a thriving planet.
I like your idea about connecting. I think yes, of course: scale up and connect, scale up and connect, and repeat and accelerate. Yet some things on the net go viral and fly, almost as if with a life of their own. We need meme tribes and we need tribal leaders. Maybe we need more. What if some people made it their life goal to search out and one meme with ANOTHER and another, so that the net affect is to build nets of nets. In the next 5 to 10 years the portion of humanity that has access will increase. That's a good thing.
I have a problem with believing that governments and corporate interests will jump on board. Energy use, food production, circular economics, upcycle models, all these and more need to be combined and spread with a whole-hearted sense of purpose.
Mark

An interesting idea to create an influential TV show, but this idea did not appear until further into the proposal. There is a lot of potential if the idea could be developed further.
