More transparency in the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing operations may have an important role to play in the correct overall regulatory strategy and is clearly an idea worth discussing. However, the goal of this contest was to discover ways to measure, monitor, and reduce the climate impacts of hydraulic fracturing in particular, as opposed to other kinds of impacts, like chemical spills or contamination, so this proposal was not a good fit.
