I'm a career scientist with a Ph. D. in chemistry from Caltech. I've done scientific research and teaching since freshman year at Notre Dame. I have 80 peer-reviewed publications in chemistry, physics, biology and other biologically related fields, and remote sensing. For over 15 years I've worked on research related to global change, particularly direct CO2 responses of plants added to responses to T and precipitation, plus agricultural water use (physiological and meteorological control). I've taught courses in global change, made numerous professional and public presentations on the topic, and co-organized two action/study groups. I've collaborated with El Paso Electric on the conundrums of integrating renewable energy sources into the electric power grid. For the last 7 years I have helped found and run (without pay) a nonprofit private school, in which we emphasize math, science, and languages. I continue to publish peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on scientific topics.
