Public transportation
Boston's public transportation system, the MBTA, known as "the T", was the first subway in the United States and continues to be one of the easiest ways to get around Boston/Cambridge.

The closest subway station to campus is Kendall Square on the Red Line. You may also want to consider going to Central Square (also on the Red Line) or taking the #1 or CT1 bus across the Charles River from Back Bay, depending on where you are coming from and your destination on campus.

From Amtrak/South Station, take the Red Line toward Alewife and exit at the Kendall/MIT stop.  Walk ten minutes to the Stratton Student Center and Kresge Auditorium.

By Bus
The #1 (Dudley/Harvard Station) bus stops at MIT on Massachusetts Avenue and provides transportation to Central Square and Harvard Square (Northbound), and Boston (Southbound).  The MIT stop is at a large crosswalk with a stoplight.  On one side of the street are steps leading up to large Ionic columns and the small dome of MIT; on the other side of the street is the Stratton Student Center and Kresge Auditorium.

Car Parking
Please note there is no public parking on the MIT campus.  Visitors may find off-street parking at any of the local hotels; there's also a small public lot on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street.  Fees are in the range of $20-$30 per day.   Click here for more information on public lots near campus.

Access for Patrons with Disabilities
A wheelchair lift is available for access to Kresge Auditorium.  Bathrooms are located on the lower level and can be reached by the elevator in the Kresge Lobby.
