Leonardo Santiago has a bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering (2007) from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) of the FUMEC University, has incomplete degree in Geography (up to 7th period) by the Geosciences Institute (IGC) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and developed his Master Studies (2009) in Environmental Studies at the Natural Environment Analysis specialty, by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
During his Master, it was developed a process to select suitable areas for the establishment of a new protected area through spatial multi-criteria evaluation techniques combined with landscape ecology concepts.
Leonardo has extensive experience in GIS and its applications in environmental studies; development and coordination of environmental studies for environmental permits of large enterprises in the mining, energy and linear developments (transmission lines, roads, pipelines); development of studies related to conservation, such as creating protected areas and environmental plans and programs; and the development of risk assessment, uncertainties and environmental constraints for future projects.
At WayCarbon, Mr. Santiago act as team manager, assisting in the management of human resources, and as environmental consultant on projects involving the use of geospatial technologies and which relate to the fulfillment of conditions and issues inherent in the environmental licensing process.
