Judges'' comments

Thank you for your submission to the Climate CoLab.

The Judges would like you to address:

1) the need to handle a heavy and bulky chimney over the stove, and
2) the presence of smoke at ground level in an environment where there will be people breathing these gases.

Thanks for your helpful questions. I've updated the summary, benefits and costs sections to reply and to list the novel features.

Handling. The drying chimney looks heavy, like an old oil drum, but actually it's light since it's made from a recycled kitchen bin. I use a simple stand similar to what people use to support large pots for cooking. The weight is manageable, like lifting a small dog, although you can load and unload wood with the drying chimney in place.

Smoke. The photo shows what looks like smoke but actually it's almost entirely steam from the drying process. There is a small fraction of combustion products (CO2 but no particulates or CO) from the cookstove used for heating. I've added advice to use the unit in a safe open space outdoors.
