Pitch

EVERY MINUTE 146 women become pregnant who did not plan or wish it. Many undeveloped countries still have an unmet need for contraception.

Description

Summary

We must help 3rd world countries
PLAN THEIR FAMILIES
We must financially aid 3rd world countries with  contraception.
The USA and other developed countries must provide more aid

Reducing the future population burden on this earth, in this way, is the most cost effective of all proposals.

What right have we to deny other country’s women what the USA has constitutionally given theirs?

What actions do you propose?

Lobby US Republican Representatives.

Provide aid to Organizations that offer contraception and education to undeveloped countries.

Who will take these actions?

Everybody

Where will these actions be taken?

Africa, India and Muslim countries

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

Stemming population growth is a cheap way to limit climate change

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2011/oct/31/stemming-population-growth-climate-change

More than 200 million women in developing countries want to avoid pregnancy, but need modern contraception. The emissions reductions that could be expected through meeting these family planning needs would be roughly equivalent to the reductions that would come from ending all tropical deforestation.

What are other key benefits?

What are the proposal’s costs?

Compared with the technological investments needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions globally, the cost of meeting the current demand for family planning is cheap.

Emissions averted through investments in family planning would cost about $4.50 per tonne of carbon dioxide, compared with options such as solar power ($30 per tonne) or carbon capture and storage from new coal plants ($60 per tonne).

It would cost an estimated $9.4 billion annually to meet the unmet need for family planning — less than 5 percent of the $209 billion annually estimated to meet the need for food in developing countries. http://populationalert.org/GlobalWarming/Cost_Effective_against_Global_Warming.htm
