Directions
Public transportation
Boston's public transportation system, the MBTA, known as "the T", was the first subway in the United States and continues to be one of the easiest ways to get around Boston/Cambridge.
The closest subway station to campus was Kendall Square on the Red Line. Attendees also may have considered going to Central Square (also on the Red Line) or taking the #1 or CT1 bus across the Charles River from Back Bay, depending on where they were coming from.
From Amtrak/South Station, they could also take the Red Line toward Alewife and exit at the Kendall/MIT stop. Walk ten minutes to the Chang Building located on 50 Memorial Drive.
By Bus
The #1 (Dudley/Harvard Station) bus stops at MIT on Massachusetts Avenue and provided transportation to Central Square and Harvard Square (Northbound), and Boston (Southbound). The MIT stop is at a large crosswalk with a stoplight.
Car Parking
Please note there is no public parking on the MIT campus. Visitors may find off-street parking at any of the local hotels; there was also a small public lot on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street. Fees are in the range of $20-$30 per day.
