Goal
The Climate CoLab seeks to harness the collective intelligence of thousands of people around the world to address global climate change.Inspired by systems like Wikipedia and Linux, the CoLab is a global, on-line forum in which people can:
- create,
- analyze, and
- select
How it works
At the core of the CoLab is an evolving collection of user-created Proposals based on:- proposed actions we can take (such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions),
- Models that project the impacts of the proposed actions,
- projected impacts of the proposed actions (such as future changes in the earth's temperature).
These proposals are generated in Contests, where teams work together to create proposals.
In the contests, expert judges and the CoLab community are both involved in selecting the best proposals.
In addition, members of the CoLab community can participate in Debates about issues relevant to climate change.
For more, see Proposals help, Contest help, Models help, Debates help, and How the CoLab works.
For a vision of what the system might eventually become, see Possible outcomes.
