Guidelines for suggesting new contests

Introduction#

Members of the Climate CoLab community are encouraged to suggest ideas for new contests by selecting "Suggest a new contest" on the main Contest page.

Please review these guidelines before submitting your suggestion.

How the process works#

After you click on the "Suggest a new contest" link, a pop-up form will appear, inviting you to create a message describing your idea.

Type in your message, with a focus on the key elements listed below.

The message will be received to the Climate CoLab staff, who will review it. If there are questions, a member of the team will contact you.

The CoLab staff will consider your idea within the broader context of other contests under consideration and make a decision within two weeks.

Important elements of new contests#

Two key elements make for a good new contest:

Contests can have a significant impact on climate change in two key ways: by having a major impact (for example, large mitigation potential) or by being able to be put into effect rapidly (for example, an adaptation proposal that can be implemented immediately).

Another important element of a successful contest is that key stakeholders, who will have the ability to implement ideas developed in the CoLab, are likely to be interested in the contest's results.

In your message outlining your contest idea, please describe its potential to impact climate change and why important stakeholders may be interested in the contest's results.
