Nature of Climate CoLab proposals
No single country or technology alone can solve the problems of global climate change.Climate CoLab proposals thus focus on the large, systems engineering challenge of configuring the world's political, economic, social, and technological systems to address climate change.
Elements of proposals
In the Climate CoLab, a proposal is a proposed set of actions for addressing climate change.At the heart of each Climate CoLab proposal is a set of computer simulation models that predict the likely outcomes of the proposed actions.
The core elements of proposals in the Climate CoLab are thus:
- Actions The actions the proposal advocates be taken.
- Models The computer simulations used to project the impacts of key proposed actions.
- Impacts The projected environmental and economic outcomes if the proposed actions were taken.
In addition, the Climate CoLab invites community members to provide additional information about proposals:
- Positions Stance toward key issues in the debate over what should be done to address climate change.
- Description Text that summarizes:
- why the actions set out by the proposal are desirable
- how the proposed actions might be achieved, for example, by listing actions by policy makers and business executives or future changes in technology or human behavior
- vision of the future under the proposal, through artistic representations such as videos, images, or narratives
