I was born in Showa, Central Ethiopia on 21 January 1965. At amount age of seven I joined the nearby Gumer elementary and junior secondary school and completed by study in 1980. Then I attended my high school education in Endiber senior high school 15 km away from my village. After passing the school leaving national examination, I joined the then Alemaya University in 1984/85. After four years of study I graduated with BSc degree in plant science in 1988. I got my MSc degree in Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia on 1999 in applied microbiology and My PhD in soil science from Kastesart University, Thailand in 2006.
Concerning my work experience, I worked for over 18 years as a researcher in various capacities and positions in the Ethiopian agricultural system until I left it in December 2011 to join Hawassa University. when I was in the research system, I used to involve in developing research projects aimed at addressing soil fertility and soil acidity challenges for sustained and enhanced crop production and productivity, served as department head where I was responsible for overseeing the overall activities being conducted in the department of natural resource management, preparation and monitoring of budge. I used to engage in collaborative international and international projects, have experience in publishing papers,offering training etc.
After I joined Hawassa University, I am engaged in teaching soil science courses both at undergraduate and graduate levels, serving as thesis research supervisor of students working for their MSc and PhD degrees in soil sciences; conduct research project on soil fertility management.
I have also extensive international experiences as visiting scholar and fellow scientist in different countries. I received several national and international awards for my contribution to the advancement of agriculture in Ethiopia.
