John is an experienced, hands-on technical founder, entrepreneur, and full-stack developer with a passion for agile and lean methodology.

John is the Founder of Starter Inc., developer of the Ignite platform for rapidly building and scaling content-rich, personalized mobile software and scalable web apps.

Since 2013, John has utilized his expert JavaScript, Java, and Swift programming skills to create the Chukles mobile App. Chukles uses cutting edge mobile tech and analytics to allow Pro/Am comedians to improve and monetize their craft, while delivering the best social humor experience to their fans.

From 2000 to 2012, John was the founder and CEO of Extentech where he built ExtenXLS -- the leading Java Spreadsheet SDK used by millions, and Sheetster -- the first Open Source Web Spreadsheet.

John implemented this complex technology for customers working as a consultant on projects for Enterprises including Accenture, Toyota, Workday, Infoteria, Nielsen, IBM and many more.

Bootstrapping the company to profitability, Extentech pioneered and marketed complex software products including Sheetster, the first open source spreadsheet server, and ExtenXLS -- the worlds' most powerful Java Spreadsheet SDK.

John built an open source community with tens of thousands of users, and positioned OpenXLS side to drive Enterprise and OEM sales, strategic partnerships, and recurring revenue.

Extentech achieved early profitability and John successfully sold the company in 2012 to Infoteria, a publicly listed Japanese software company.Post-acquisition, John served for one year as CTO, managed product development and mobile dev (iOS and Android) and served on the Executive Board of Infoteria America, overseeing the North American subsidiary.

John has recognized expertise in startups, exits, spreadsheets, open source, cloud, and web/mobile development. John has been a contributor to Accounting World and has been interviewed and featured in stories on PandoDaily and Forbes.com.
