George T. Frampton, Jr., a Principal at New Energy Advisors LLC, was Senior of Counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, working in the firm’s climate and clean energy practice, from 2009 until 2013. Formerly he was a partner at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LP from 2001-2009 and Operating Advisor to Pegasus Capital; Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), 1998-2001; Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, 1993-1997; President of The Wilderness Society, 1987 to 1993; a partner at Rogovin, Huge & Lenzner, Washington DC, 1979-1996, where he also served as Deputy Director and Chief of Staff, Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s investigation into the causes of the Three Mile Island nuclear accident; Assistant Independent Counsel, Investigation of Edwin Meese III; and Special Counsel to the State of Alaska in 1985. Mr. Frampton served as an Assistant Special Prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, US Department of Justice, from 1973-1975 where he worked on the grand jury investigation and trial of President Nixon’s top aides in the Watergate Cover-up matter. He graduated Yale College (BA in Physics), the London School of Economics (M.Sc. Econ, with Distinction, in Advanced Economic Theory) and Harvard Law School, JD, where he was Treasurer (Managing Editor) of the Harvard Law Review.
