An experienced consultant to government and property-sector clients on innovative urban planning and design strategies, Al creates compelling, effective and sustainable urban places. His comprehensive suite of tools and techniques, including many of his own development, emphasize performance-based guidelines and frameworks, systems-based thinking, integrated technology, market and regulatory policy awareness, creative programming, novel building typologies, people-centric placemaking techniques, advanced land-use and urban form control and zoning systems, and cutting edge green building and infrastructure approaches. Al has worked for over 15 years in the design, planning, development and financing of masterplanning projects, urban systems and infrastructure. He is a native of California, with advanced degrees in architecture and city planning from MIT and an undergraduate degree in architecture and urban studies from Columbia University.
