Aníbal De Almeida is a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Coimbra. He serves as the Director of ISR, a non-profit organization that focus applied research and technology transfer, leading the Energy Systems and Sustainable Development team and carries out studies and projects for the European Commission, as well as to regional energy authorities and to the national energy agency in Portugal. Over the past 15 years, he has co-authored five books and published over 200 publications on the topics of energy efficiency for appliances, lighting, and motor systems. He was the Co-Chairman of the EEDAL - International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting, 2013
Anibal De Almeida has coordinated eight European energy efficiency projects and he has been involved in several projects sponsored by UNDP and UNIDO in China, Latin America and in Africa. Most recently, he is working as a consultant for Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission to conduct analysis on energy-efficient motors and drives and providing training in industrial motor systems for United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s South Africa Industrial Energy Efficiency Project. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College, University of London.
