David is Mott MacDonald’s (www.mottmac.com) global lead on climate resilience. He is an internationally recognised expert with 20 years of experience working globally and contributing to some of the major international climate change projects and assessments undertaken to date. David has published over 100 peer reviewed papers and reports on all aspects of climate change and has been a Contributor and Expert Reviewer for the IPCC.
David has a unique mix of developing high quality scientific research coupled with a business acumen that has enabled him to deliver large complex programmes to address climate change. At the British Council he devised and delivered a global programme of societal engagement which reached over 100 million people and engaged over half a billion .This programme was described by the UK Government as a National Asset. David has developed unique approaches to science, whilst at Natural England he helped pioneer a landscape scale approach to adaptation, that coupled the need for ecosystem resilience with other sectors. Working at the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit, David, as Masters course director developed the new generation of climate change scientist and practitioners. He ran the hugely successful and influential Climate Impacts LINK Project and was co-manager of the IPCC Data Distribution Centre. He developed the Climate Change and Tourism as a major research area and he helped pioneer the methodologies for construction climate change scenarios.
