Contests: 2011 Contest

2011 contest

This year's contest focuses on the green economy, one of the two key themes of the UN’s Rio+20 conference. The CoLab invites the public to submit proposals to the question:

How should the 21st century economy evolve, bearing in mind the risks of climate change?

There are two contest pools, one that addresses this question at the global level and the other at the national level.

Timeline

Proposals can be submitted through September 30, 2011. Judges will select finalists in early October, and finalists will be able to improve their proposals through October 31, 2011. The judges will review the finalists for feasibility November 1-4, and members of the Climate CoLab community will vote on the finalists November 4-15.  Winner will be selected based on review by the judges and voting by the community.

Judging and Prizes

At least one Popular Choice and one Judge's Choice winner will be named in both the global and national categories.

As in previous years, the Climate CoLab team is working to schedule meetings with relevant policy makers about the winning proposals. The briefings will be at the United Nations (New York, NY) and on Capitol Hill (Washington, DC).

The Climate CoLab will support travel for at least one representative from each winning team to these policy briefings.

The contest winners will also be featured on TreeHugger, the online sustainability site.
