Mitigation cost response surface boundaries

Mitigation cost error message#

When you see this message:

"The mitigation costs of this proposal cannot be accurately calculated"

this means that the actions for the proposal are outside the range of acceptable inputs for one or more of the models used to calculate mitigation costs.

When this occurs, the costs are likely to be greater than those shown--in some cases substantially greater--and the actions specified in the proposal may not even be feasible at all.

For more, see Detail on EMF 22 response surface boundaries.

Sources of mitigation cost estimates#

Mitigation cost estimates for the 2010 contest are from scenarios based on runs of a group of integrated assessment models, generated as part of the Stanford Energy Modeling Forum's EMF 22 exercise. For more, see EMF 22 response surfaces.

Mitigation cost estimates for the 2009 contest are from scenarios based on 3 integrated assessment models, generated as part of a study undertaken by the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP). For more on these models, see:

For more on the boundaries of these response surfaces, see Detail on CCSP response surface boundaries.
